SUVs by nature aren’t exactly known for a sporty design. They’re often considered a family vehicle and an alternative to minivans. However, Toyota automakers hope to turn that concept upside its head with the release of the 2018 Toyota RAV4 Adventure.
So, what is known about this latest trim for the crossover? It has been confirmed that it will retain the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The base model will utilize a front-drive platform with the option for an all-wheel-drive upgrade. The latter increases the towing capacity from 2,900 pounds to 3,500 pounds.
The changes mostly lie in the styling. The Adventure has the characteristics of a sports or high-performance vehicle. This includes lower-body cladding, black 18-inch alloy wheels, enlarged fender flares, and racing stripes. In addition, the trim has a greater ground clearance than the conventional 2017 Toyota RAV4.
The changes are even more pronounced in the interior. For one, there is a lot of leather cladding. Even the shift knob is wrapped in leather. Accessories include all-weather rubber mats and footwells. A Tow Prep Package, which is normally an additional add-on, comes standard. This makes it easy to lug extra cargo on the vehicle exterior.
Like all other Toyota RAV4 trims, the Adventure will come with Hill-Start Assist Control and Trailer Sway Control as standard.
Buyers will have five color options to select from: Black, Ruby Flare Pearl, Super White, Silver Sky Metallic, and Magnetic Grey Metallic.
