Earlier this month, Cars.com named the 2016 RAV4 to its Car Seat Honor Roll. Out of 84 model-year 2016 and 2017 vehicles tested, only six vehicles passed the rigorous inspections to receive this distinction. Here at our Toyota dealership near San Diego, CA, we’re proud to be a part of a brand that makes safety such a priority. Keep reading to find out more!

In the testing by Cars.com, the 2016 RAV4 earned a perfect score in each category of the test. The tests were conducted by certified child passenger safety technicians that tried out an infant seat, a convertible seat, and a booster seat. Cars.com stated that “when it comes to car seats, the RAV4 is at the top of the class”, and part of that is due to the large backseat that easily accommodates rear-facing baby seats.

The Toyota brand’s designers and engineers have spent a lot of time to make child seat mounts easy to access and use, and as this is the second honor the brand has received this month for its efforts, the work is certainly paying off. Jennifer Pelky, senior safety engineer at the Toyota brand’s North America R&D Headquarters, had this to say:

We’ve put a lot of effort into making installation of child safety seats easier, and we’re glad to see that it’s working. I have two young boys myself, and child passenger safety is of the utmost importance to me, both as a mother and an engineering professional that has an active role in LATCH development on Toyota vehicles.
