Toyota automakers have just announced that the 2019 Toyota Camry and 2019 Toyota Sienna will both be getting Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

How does this work? To use Alexa, users will require an Android device with Android 5.0 or higher. The system is purportedly called Toyota + Alexa. Users will be able to use it much the same way as a home Alexa system. In other words, they can check the weather, get the news, get directions, and even order food.

To enable CarPlay, you will require an iOS device with a USB cable.

Toyota automakers debuted the new additions at the Detroit Auto Show back in January with the unveiling of the 2019 Toyota Avalon. Since then, the automaker has reportedly been hard at work tweaking its infotainment system. The current iteration utilizes the Linux-based Entune 3.0, which comes with a built-in modem for Wi-Fi access.

Several months earlier, Apple CarPlay was also announced for the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback and 2019 Toyota C-HR.

The Toyota brand will be one of the first car brands to enable Amazon Alexa, putting it way ahead of the pack.

Both the 2019 Toyota Camry and 2019 Toyota Sienna will be available this fall. iPhone integration with Amazon Alexa, however, will not be available until early 2019.
