The 2017 LA Auto Show is a platform for automakers to reveal their upcoming models. Toyota representatives were also in attendance and used the show to showcase its latest concept.
The concept car is known as the Future Toyota Adventure Concept, or FT-AC for short. FT-AC is an SUV with an advanced all-wheel-drive system with adjustable power settings to suit various terrain types.
According to Toyota spokesperson Jack Hollis, the FT-AC is designed for “outdoor enthusiasts who want to dial up the adventure.”
One of the prominent features includes detachable fog lights that drivers can remove to use as a portable lighting or attach to a mountain bike for nighttime riding.
Also noteworthy are front, rear, and side skid plates. The presence of side overhangs protect the car from ruts and jagged rocks. The fender flares are also exceptionally wide, resting just above beefy 20-inch tires.
The side mirrors are equipped with infrared cameras. Like the fog lights, the camera is also removable and can be used portably for recording trail runs or other evening expeditions. Also, to help the cameras capture nighttime images, the roof-rack is fitted with LED marker lights that double-function as a trail light and flash for the cameras.
If you’re an avid mountain biker, then you may also appreciate the integrated retractable bike rack. In the interior is a built-in geo-location system for navigating your way back to base camp.
