For the third consecutive year, the Toyota brand has earned more Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) honors than any other automotive brand. Seven Toyota models were honored by the IIHS as Top Safety Pick+ or Top Safety Pick models. At our Toyota dealers near Lemon Grove, CA, our team is excited to be associated with a brand that has such a commitment to safety.

Seven Toyota models were named Top Safety Pick+ award winners, including the 2017 Toyota Camry, 2017 Toyota Corolla, and 2017 Toyota RAV4. The 2017 Toyota Avalon and 2017 Toyota Yaris iA were each named Top Safety Pick winners! Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota North America’s Chief Quality Officer, had this to say about earning all the honors:

At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers. We are proud that our commitment to developing safe and reliable vehicles resulted in such a strong showing in 2017 Top Safety Pick+ awards.

According the IIHS, automakers and their vehicles were subjected to tougher criteria in order to be named a Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick, respectively. Such criteria includes the new headlight evaluations that were launched in 2016. In order to be named a Top Safety Pick+ award winner, a vehicle must earn the top score of “Good” in all five of the IIHS’s crashworthiness tests, as well as an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating in front crash prevention and avoidance systems and a score of “Good” in headlight evaluations. To be named a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn the top rating in the crash tests as well as the “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for crash avoidance systems.
