The Cars.com “American-Made Index” rates vehicles that are built and purchased within the United States. Evaluated factors include the percentage of parts that are considered domestic under federal regulations, whether the car is actually assembled in the United States, and sales of that vehicle within the U.S. If a model does not achieve a domestic parts content rating of at least 75%, it is immediately disqualified, as are models built exclusively outside of the U.S. According the NHTSA, the Toyota Camry as a U.S.-sold domestic content of 75 percent.

Bob Carter, Toyota Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations, had this to say about the honor:

This recognition from Cars.com is a tribute to Toyota employees, not only those at the plant who build the Camry, but the broader Toyota team who design, engineer, market and finance the vehicle in the United States. We also support local suppliers and economies, and we have invested more than $6 billion into our Kentucky operations alone, which is growing with our new product engineering campus under construction there.

In addition to the Toyota Camry earning the top place in the “American-Made Index,” the 2016 Toyota Sienna earned the third spot. To discover more about the All-American 2016 Toyota Camry, head on down to Toyota Chula Vista to speak to a member of our team today!
