According to a 2017 article from Consumer Reports, owners hold onto a car for an average of 11 years. Thanks to new technology, cars are lasting longer than ever. Even so, most modern cars begin showing signs of wear and tear well before hitting the 200,000-mile mark. Longevity is an important factor of any automobile. Business Insider, in fact, released a report listing the top 10 vehicles most likely to last 200,000 miles. Let’s examine this report.

Four of the 10 vehicles on the list are Toyota models. The report came up with the list based on the percentage of pre-owned cars that were sold with more than 200,000 miles under its belt. All cars on the list exceeded the average 1.2 percent. A total of 13.5 million vehicles were analyzed; all models were between the years 1981 and 2017.

The Toyota Sequoia took the number one spot, with an impressive 6.6 percent of the SUV having over 200,000 miles at the time of sale as a pre-owned car.

The Toyota 4Runner came in fourth at 4.2 percent. The Toyota Tacoma took eighth place at 2.6 percent. Finally, the Toyota Avalon came in at number nine at 2.4 percent.

An older 2013 report from Forbes listed the Toyota 4Runner, Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Yaris as vehicles most likely to last 250,000 miles.

Please keep in mind that regardless of model, cars require regular maintenance if you hope to reach those figures without serious problems.
